Float Therapy

Float Therapy, also known as Sensory Deprivation, allows your body to feel weightless, and you become a mind floating in space. Your body and mind are enabled to reach the deepest levels of relaxation and meditation — levels that would typically take years of practice to achieve.

Floating in 10 inches of skin-temperature water, mixed with over 1000 pounds of salt, allows your senses to be released from all distractions. The tank creates an environment where you can achieve pure sensory relaxation. The weightlessness, combined with the benefits of Epsom salts, also creates an ideal environment for injury recovery and provides relief from muscular pain and tension.

During your session you will float naked, because swimsuits can contain chlorine, dyes, and can be uncomfortable. Don’t worry — it’s a private float suite!

Benefits of Float Therapy

Getting rid of all sensory input allows the ‘constant pressure of analyzing the world around you’ part of your brain to chill out for a second, allowing the creative, relaxed part of your mind to come out and play. Cortisol, the main chemical component of stress, becomes lowered, and your brain also releases elevated levels of dopamine and endorphins, the neurotransmitters of happiness.

How Your First Session Might Go

Are you wondering how your Float Therapy session might go? If you are new to Sensory Deprivation, be prepared that it may take you a while to relax and become comfortable on your first float. On average, it takes a person up to their third float to really enjoy the experience, sink into relaxation, and even sometimes fall into a deep sleep. Here is what you can expect from your Float Therapy session.
number 1

Shower

Remove all jewelry and clothing and set aside on the bench. Shower in your private float room and use the shampoo and body wash. Do not use hair conditioner.
number 2

Chill in the Room

After your shower, head over to start your float.
number 3

Step In

Sit down into the float solution and close the lid. You can leave the lid open or cracked if you would like more time to get comfortable with the idea of floating. You are ready to then lay back and experience every joint in your body releasing from gravity. When ready, close your lid (if you have not done so) and turn off your light in the pod. You can always leave your light on if you would like.

number 4

The Drift Off

Music plays for the first 5 minutes to ease you in. The soft audio eventually drifts away as you drift away into bliss.
number 5

Expect Nothing

The experience of floating is often different for each person, so we can’t tell you what to exactly expect.
number 6

The Ending

Music returns to bring you out of your relaxed state. Slowly make your way to shower. This time you can use hair conditioner if you wish. Get dressed or stay in our robe for a bit to enjoy herbal tea in the lounge.
